Andrew Kibe Confirms December Boxing Match Against MP Peter Salasya

Media personality Andrew Kibe has confirmed that his highly anticipated boxing match against Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya is expected to take place in December, with preparations for the bout already underway.

Kibe made the revelation during an interview posted on Friday, September 4, 2026, while discussing the proposed showdown and the latest developments surrounding its organisation.

“In December, I’m going to be getting into a boxing ring with Salasya,” Kibe said.

Asked whether he had signed an agreement for the fight, Kibe indicated that he was ready to do so, revealing that the contract was already on his phone.

Kibe Explains Why Oga Obinna Is No Longer Involved

The proposed Kibe-Salasya fight was initially linked to media personality Oga Obinna and his Vurugu 3 event.

However, Kibe revealed that the arrangement had since changed, confirming that Obinna would no longer be involved in staging the contest.

According to Kibe, the fight will now be handled through a different platform, with the organisers exploring an escrow arrangement as they work out the financial details.

“We’ve gone a different way,” Kibe said.

Kibe claimed that Obinna had initially wanted the two to fight at his event but argued that the financial offer was not attractive enough.

“He wanted us to fight in his event and give us some small chums,” Kibe said.

The former radio presenter maintained that the proposed bout could generate substantially more revenue if organised through another platform.

“There’s a lot of money to be made in that shit. Why would I go give my whole birthright to Obinna?” he said.

Kibe subsequently confirmed that Obinna was no longer part of the arrangement.

“Obinna is out. I don’t want to work with him. Same idea, but different platform,” he said.

Kibe Begins Training for Salasya Showdown

Despite the change in organisers, Kibe maintained that his planned fight against Salasya remains on course for December.

The 50-year-old said he is set to begin full training on Monday as he steps up preparations for the bout.

Kibe revealed that he will train alongside Barak Jacuzzi and work with Jacuzzi’s trainer ahead of the contest.

“You have to,” Kibe said when asked whether he intended to undergo serious training for the fight.

Kibe also appeared confident about his chances against Salasya, despite the age difference between the two.

“But I don’t feel 50,” he said.

He further pointed to his reach as one of the physical advantages he believes could work in his favour once the two step into the ring.

Oga Obinna Previously Backed the Fight

Before his withdrawal from the arrangement, Obinna had played a prominent role in promoting the proposed Kibe-Salasya showdown.

He had publicly encouraged Kibe to accept Salasya’s challenge and pledged an initial purse of KSh2 million for the contest.

Obinna also indicated that sponsorship could potentially increase the prize money to KSh5 million if the fight went ahead.

With the event now expected to proceed under a different platform, attention will turn to the final contractual and financial arrangements, as well as the official confirmation of the December fight date.

For now, Kibe says he is ready to enter the ring and has begun preparing for what promises to be one of the more closely watched celebrity boxing matchups in Kenya.
